Eureka...a Cone...or should I say Cones?!

There has been very little wind here lately, and no storms and the mini supply was growing scarce yesterday so we decided to try another beach for something different.  I think it was a good plan! This was the very first shell I found this morning!  A Beautiful bright orange Florida Cone!
Just a few more steps and I found these guys...
You know me, I can't pass up a Shark's eye!! and the Chestnut Turban's colors were gorgeous! I found a double Kitten's paw too!

Don't you just love the color of this Horse Conch? He was empty, so into my bag he went!!
There were some strange things out there too...like this Fish Spinal column, I assume from a fish, because it looks a little like a Crucifix shell...but this was very large and thick!
I found another section of it just a little bit further down the beach...
I found this unusual guy...it was a deep purple and very flat...
and the inside was iridescent, Another one for the books! ...I think I found it and it's called a Flat Tree Oyster!

Cheri is really good at finding these beautiful Hermit Crabs, this one had made a home in a Pear Whelk..we loved his striped antenna!!
She also found this!! A Sliver of a Junonia!! How does this happen? It has such vivid colors too!! It just helps us search a little harder and more thoroughly!
I found this BEAUTIFUL Nutmeg, and it was empty!! I have never found an empty one with such Vivid Colors!
...and then this happened!!
Cheri actually saw it first, but let me be the one to claim it off of the beach!! and I took it!! ;)  It has been so long since I have found a nice one!! It was in perfect shape too! Thank you Cheri!!
Then I found this beauty, a small Jasper's Cone (I believe) but I have never found one this color! I was in Cone heaven!! ;)
...and how about this one?! Not perfect, but I kept it anyway!!! Another pretty good sized Alphabet!
Another Horse Conch!  It looks like this was to be a day about Cones of all sorts...
And Horse Conchs of all sizes!
I'd say that was a pretty good day! We got to enjoy some wildlife while we were out there also, This is a Royal Tern....I think it's the first one I have seen up close! Isn't he handsome?! We saw several of these guys, Pelicans, Snowy Egret
and a Dolphin....

He was so active, it was very difficult to get video of him, but here is a little bit...
The unusual part to me was that there was a woman and a little girl just ahead of us on the beach, they turned around and were looking down, as they passed us they seemed surprised that we were taking pictures of something....this had gone on for several minutes. We told her it was a dolphin, and they were just fascinated! They had just looked down at the beach, and would have missed something they won't soon forget, a dolphin feeding...

I just want to remind y'all to make sure you take your time and be sure to look in all directions when you are shelling, I remind myself of this often....there is beauty all around you on and off this island and you might miss something!!

Stay tuned for our next adventure!
