Organizing....and more shell therapy.

Organizing is what you do before you do something, so that when you do it, it's not all mixed up.~A.A. Milne

I spent some time this weekend pretending I was at the beach and organizing all of our shells.  I had a lot of them in plastic boxes before but not organized.  I decided to organize them by type and it would make things a lot easier....boy what a job!! It was fine on Friday when it was 70 here, but today when it was 45 it wasn't as easy to pretend I was at the beach!! What a mess....but it is much more organized....believe it or not!!!

I had now idea we had this many alphabet cones!!
I know it looks like a mess, but it is organized chaos!! ....an assembly line of sorts! I would grab a container and walk around the garage and put it in the proper container!!

While I was at it, I was picking one of each, the best colors etc for the wreaths I was going to make for my Mom and Jess.  They both had seen my wreath, (see pics here) and wanted one too!! Which means I get to do a little shell therapy after this!!

My Mom's wreath needs to be a little smaller, as she has a smaller apartment door, so I decided to make her a 12", and Jess another 18" like mine!

Here is my Mom's....I think I went a little overboard and tried to put too much, but she will like it anyway....I hope!!
Jess' wreath looked a little better proportioned I think, I hope she and her hubby Brad will enjoy it!!

I think I could do this for days!! I have another thin wreath that I may just play with later on and put here at our house!! Stay tuned!! I am in shell craft therapy mode now!!

Dabbling in Shell Creativity!

Think left and think right and think low and think high.  Oh, the thinks you can think up if only you try!  ~Dr. Seuss

I have really been in the mood to pull out the glue gun and do some creating lately! I really haven't had any specific ideas, just been in the mood to play with my shells and see what I can create!! Maybe it is the weather, but somehow working with my shells makes me feel all warm and fuzzy inside!! It allows me to escape to warm breezes and sunshine and the beautiful Gulf air. I made these 2 shadow boxes last week!
Lots of Coquina and an Alternate Tellin!!
Lots of 'Dollars' and Dove
This was actually and accident, the sand dollar cracked as soon as I glued it, and fell  in two...one dove fell out, so I just glued that half down too, and got the rest of the doves!!

Yesterday I needed something to occupy my mind and decided to work on a grapevine wreath I have had for months.  I really am not a fan of just plain old grapevine, so I found these pieces of curly thin bamboo in light and dark colors and wove them on top of the vines.

Then I cut some burlap into strips and used it as ribbon, and the other strip into a bow, of sorts.

Then it was time to add the shells! The funnest part!! I got some of the very best of our shells, and tried to find at least one of everything!! Then just hot glued them to the wreath, ribbon and each other!!
Here are some close ups!

Can you think of anything I missed?? It is awfully heavy so the next challenge will be how to hang it!! I can see it on our front door in Ft. Myers!! Just need to figure out how!! :)

What do you think???

We finally are getting some blooms in our gardens here, though they were blooming in the snow, it has been warm the last 2 days and I have spring fever.....wanted to share a little fever with my blog buddies!!
