Shellcrafting for the Fourth

Since it will still be a while before we had back down to paradise, I decided to get some Shell Therapy.  I'll be with The Sanibel Shellcrafters for the 4th of July parade, so I started working on some of the flowers...We decorate a golf cart completely with shell flowers so we all have to do some crafting!

They said the biggest shells we have, so I made some Scallop and some Dosinia flowers....

...and of course they have to go with the theme, which is Red, White and Beautiful!

...and of course we need some bling for them to stand out!....Glitter, lots of glitter!

We also hand out shell flowers to the mothers along the parade route so I've made about 200 of those....trying to be creative.... and use just 'regular' everyday shells, like Kittens Paws....

Jewel Boxes.....
Crossbarred Venus and Coquinas....
I even tried using Broad lipped Cardita, and Smaller Scallops...
I tried a couple of Juvenile fighting conch petals, with Turban centers
All together, it ended up being about 200 'handout' flowers....so far! Hopefully I'll be handing one to one of you!! ;)

We plan on heading down (with a car full of shell flowers) the end of June....stay tuned!!
