Dabbling in Shell Creativity!

Think left and think right and think low and think high.  Oh, the thinks you can think up if only you try!  ~Dr. Seuss

I have really been in the mood to pull out the glue gun and do some creating lately! I really haven't had any specific ideas, just been in the mood to play with my shells and see what I can create!! Maybe it is the weather, but somehow working with my shells makes me feel all warm and fuzzy inside!! It allows me to escape to warm breezes and sunshine and the beautiful Gulf air. I made these 2 shadow boxes last week!
Lots of Coquina and an Alternate Tellin!!
Lots of 'Dollars' and Dove
This was actually and accident, the sand dollar cracked as soon as I glued it, and fell  in two...one dove fell out, so I just glued that half down too, and got the rest of the doves!!

Yesterday I needed something to occupy my mind and decided to work on a grapevine wreath I have had for months.  I really am not a fan of just plain old grapevine, so I found these pieces of curly thin bamboo in light and dark colors and wove them on top of the vines.

Then I cut some burlap into strips and used it as ribbon, and the other strip into a bow, of sorts.

Then it was time to add the shells! The funnest part!! I got some of the very best of our shells, and tried to find at least one of everything!! Then just hot glued them to the wreath, ribbon and each other!!
Here are some close ups!

Can you think of anything I missed?? It is awfully heavy so the next challenge will be how to hang it!! I can see it on our front door in Ft. Myers!! Just need to figure out how!! :)

What do you think???

We finally are getting some blooms in our gardens here, though they were blooming in the snow, it has been warm the last 2 days and I have spring fever.....wanted to share a little fever with my blog buddies!!

  1. Everything is so cute and creative. I like the sand dollar box the best.

Maybe you can attach the wreath to one of those hangers that slips over the top of the door?

  2. I absolutely love your wreath, and it's beautiful! I've got a different style of wreath I want to make with shells and just haven't sat down and started it. Seeing this is getting me in the mood. Please let us know what you use to hang your wreath since you said it's heavy.
