Lessons at the Lighthouse

What a fun day! Cheri and I met Lori and Laurie at the Lighthouse!

How funny is that! We all met each other on Facebook, a few years ago, Cheri and I met in person, I think 2 years ago. Lori and Laurie met in person an island a few years ago also, and have also been shelling buddies. Now I've gotten to meet Laurie and Lori...in person! They wanted to meet with us to do some Wentleing! (Looking for Wentletraps)

So meet Lori and Laurie....
And Cheri and Cheri
We had a great time, Lori started the day out with a HUGE Baby's Ear!
and pretty quickly after that, Another!
They all know that I hope to do a Sailor's Valentine one day, so any minis anyone would find, they would toss into my bag!

Laurie found this cool little piece of carrier shells all connected together!
Cheri and I each found Sharks eye operculums that we gave to Lori...
There was a lot of shell trading going on! ;)

The Wentletraps weren't very plentiful, but Cheri started lessons for them....
She would circle an area and say there are 3 Wentletraps here...

and then they would search in the circle...
Pretty quickly they were spotting them...

We had a great time, but we had to cut the visit short because storms were moving in...
I'd say they did pretty well in our short time!
Lori and her Baby's ears....and some other goodies...
and Laurie and her Wentles...she even found a little Dusty cone....
When we got back to the parking lot, Cheri gave them each a jar....that already had a few Wentletraps in it!!

How nice was this?! They were so tickled! AND They had been taught by the master Wentletrapper! ;)

and I cleaned up too! These were my treasures that everyone contributed to! Thanks Girls!
I hope to meet with them again one day soon...My trip is quickly coming to an end... :(   Hopefully I will have one more post before I leave...Shellcrafters today!

As you can see in the pictures....the water is brown and a little smelly....I detected a tiny bit of Red Tide at one point, but it quickly went away. The city folks were there cleaning the beach of the dead fish....so it continues here, I suspect it will for quite a while longer!

Stay Tuned!

Day Three...

We saw so many live Lightning Whelks last night! It's amazing how excited I got to see them!
The one on the left has the actual Lightning Whelk 'snail' in it, the one on the right has a hermit crab...

There were so many....these are just a very few!

Sand Dollars were everywhere too....in the tidal pool and on the beach....all Live!

Also a lot of King's Crown....so many more now than there used to be in this area....Cheri said there were so many Huge ones in the tidal pools too..

There was some sea creatures (dead) here too....  I have no idea what this guy is....(behind the sea squirts) looked up eel, sea snake, fish etc....
Here's another one of the same....
this poor crab didn't make it, but look at the beautiful colors!
I loved seeing birds! These are the first Pelicans I've seen this trip!
and a Snowy Egret!
The water seemed worse to me, dark, smelly....and there were a few fish on the beach, though the main part of the beach was in pretty good shape...

The beach had obviously been cleaned up....

It was low tide, so the fish were being deposited as the water went out...

Don't worry....still wearing my scuba boots! Cheri wore her shoes too, saved her feet at least once!

Another interesting find was Tarpon Scales!....We picked up 4 or 5 of them...they make BEAUTIFUL Roses.....on the lookout for more of these!
Gotta make Lemonade out of Lemons, right?! Saw this......a Junonia....
 piece....! ;)
Cheri found the Operculum from a Shark's eye....love these!
and of course, Minis....always looking for minis! Especially Wentletraps!
And I hit a hotspot for Baby's ears! There were many more broken ones! I love these!
The Sunset was Beautiful....I love being on the water for both Sunrise and Sunset....

Look closely, I caught the sun on the horizon, under the pier! see it?
I always gotta snap a shot of the lighthouse.....
I will keep trying to remain positive but informative...these posts have been kinda tough this time!

We had an amazing thunderstorm last night around midnight....i tried to catch the lightning on film....I didn't do so well, but Cheri caught an amazing shot!

Enjoy, and Stay tuned!!
